A spring day at Thera, Santorini, my footsteps adding to nearly 3000 years of human history. Great and ancient poets, warriors and artists walked the paths I now tread, as did bakers, potters, farmers and the rest of humanity.
Their city, once strong and proud, a fading memorial to their lives, slowly but surely being reclaimed by nature.
I find these ancient places both soothing and humbling. The people of this city, great and not so great, now lie forgotten, a fate I will certainly share …
