Quiet Contemplation

At the head of the Bohinj valley is the Savica waterfall.

When we reached it on a late March afternoon it was deserted. Confronted with a locked iron gate blocking the decent to its foot , we took the path of least resistance, climbed around and over the fences, and headed down to the waters edge.

I scrambled around, messing with tripods and searching for angles. Sam settled instead for a place for quiet contemplation. The two came together.

After 30 minutes we climbed back around the iron gate and set of down the hill; unlocked the car; found Harry where we left him; drove back to the apartment; then headed out to Ema’s for the worlds biggest pizza.

These moments never seem to last long enough –  normal life soon intrudes … but at the same time, once experienced, they last a lifetime.

Shooting Notes

All photos taken with the Sigma DP1 Merril, ISO 100, with obligatory tripod.
